Axis and Allies Goes Miniature

Axis and Allies is one of the most popular wargames of all time.  It is still selling decades after its original publication, has spawned successful sequels, and has even made it to PCs.  Are there any worlds left to conquer?  Yes, the world of miniatures.  A&A miniatures plays a closer to Warhammer than Flames of War, but this should attrack a wide audience.  Of course the WWII equipment is the draw and it comes in starter packs and booster packs.  Unfortunately, they are ramdom so it will take many packs to get enough for particular battles.  There is a great variety of equipment from King Tigers to Italian to Romanian.  They are even painted; not as well as you might do, but saving many of us a ton of time.  The rules are fairly simple and easy to learn giving it a wide appeal.  There are a number of scenarios to get started.

Have you ever wanted to choose which games get published.  Well, you can thru the "Games 500 Projects" from the American GMT and European UGG game companies.  They show games they have developed but will only publish after they get 500 pre-orders to ensure a game success.  You can vote for which games to publish by placing your pre-order for the games you desire most.  These respected companies mostly publish war and historical games such as Roman, Napoleonic, and WWII.

I highly recommend you sign up for the new free online game magazine, "Dice to Mice".  It is published quarterly and includes great information about many kinds of games including board, card, computer, game machine, and online games.  Its reviews are extensive and strategy tips helpful.
